Less of a photo – sorry – just had to post this little video of Alice Magazine’s virtual home – The Commonwealth of Austral. If you look into the horizon you can see the two towers of Alice Boutique – waving our flags. We are founding citizens of Austral, very proud and excited to be entering such a new place at the very beginning.

Austral is a new and burgeoning steampunk Victorian micronation in the virtual world, Second Life. It is located directly south of Caledon Caer Firnas.

This weekend 17th and 18th July 2010 sees the Founding of Commonwealth of Austral “Galah” Festival. Our brand new Alice Boutique is proud to be based at this sim from the beginning and the festival activities will include DJs, live performances, fireworks, competitions, and aerial displays.

The Commonwealth of Austral is a new Victorian, Steampunk themed land with an Australian feel. Over the past few weeks we have been watching the building of this land alongside the other founding residents.

If you have a Second Life or are thinking about getting one then please pay us a visit this weekend. It’s special for me also as 18th July is my real life birthday and although I will be celebrating this in real life I will also be celebrating inworld so come and have a drink with me.

Alice Boutique is set over two towers and six floors. Organised by category – steampunk, victorian, french shabby lolita, renaissance, fairy and coffee lounge. Happy April everyone!

The big news is that yes we have a digital flipping version of the magazine – you should be able to see April 2010 issue above. It’s our first time out as a flipping magazine and maybe it’s yours too. Let’s run through a few things.

Currently you can flip through the magazine as you would a hard copy magazine. If you can’t see the magazine please check that you have the latest versions of flash and java type applications installed. If you have any problems email us! It’s still really a test.

We really hope you like this issue. We have some little interviews and previews, style notes and design work. We were hindered in putting this issue together by all kinds of technical hitches and our editor had a brief and unexpected stay in hospital at a critical point, so it’s not quite as jam packed as we would like but our May issue looks set to expand the Alice empire even further with more interviews and exclusive content.
