It seems like everyone is on the Alice style bandwagon at the moment and yes we are happy and yes we love most of it but some of it is badly designed, poorly made and some of it is copied! Alice Magazine works for the independent designer, the frustrated artist, the best of what we can find we will bring to you because we know you will like it.

It’s true and shocking to say that one of our biggest style icons ever is Sindy. Yeah, the fashion doll Sindy, not Sindy from up the road.

Before Sindy went all Barbie and disgustingly pink she was actually cool as these 1970s photos from her catalogue prove.

The Pearl Lowe Red Lace Dress For Peacocks

This little dress caused such a stir in 2009 – it was one of the quickest items in fashion to sell out!

The dress is modelled by her daughter Daisy Lowe.

This makes our last style post for 2009 because it was such a winner!

You can occassionally find this dress on ebay but be prepared to pay well over the original selling price of approx £35.

Alice At The Christmas Party

There is one thing for sure with an Alice girl – you are never going to be wearing exactly the same thing as anyone else in any room at any given time. So we’ve put together a few of our favourite inspired fashions for your Christmas parties – from our favourite online shops. Tell them we sent you!

These little party dresses are taken from the collection at Rene Derhy a french boutique that is great for a lot of items – you have to watch out for the real fur items though, Alice Magazine is a strictly no-fur shopper.

This collection of twenties styled flapper dresses is available from Romantic Threads and features the Titanic dress (middle). Lots of sale items on there at the moment and some fantastic made-to-measure gowns that we have featured previously.

The last photos are from Alice Magazine favourites Odd Molly which, if you like the general feel of what we have featured, will be on your Christmas wish list like a shot.

ghd “Fairytales”

I’ve entered the realm of blogging about international advertising which surely says something illuminating about my current state of mind but because ghd “fairytales”, the recent advertising for ghd hair products, is within the realm of Alice Magazine interest, here is the related video and some stills from the adverts.

Maybe you’ve come across the adverts in the magazines recently, (which incidentally does not help us achieve eco-friendly nirvana so stop buying them and read them online instead!), if you ask me and plenty do, my favourite so far is Little Red Riding Hood.

After all, she carries an axe.

Alice Magazine’s Marie Antoinette Etsy Treasury

Following on from the popularity of my Steampunk Etsy Treasury I have created a new one using the theme of Marie Antoinette.

It features my favourite items, handmade or vintage, from other Etsy independent sellers.

It’s always nice to do this and beneficial to business in many ways – the featured sellers and my own business – which I am sure I will be writing an article about pretty soon.
